The Process of Being Rooted

Updated: Jun 16, 2019

I like to believe, as I mentioned in other posts, that we’re seeds ready to spread our roots, get stronger, grow, bloom, and give our fruit in this life. Today I want to talk about what in yoga we call the first chakra “Muladhara” (=Root). This is our energy center connected to the earth. It can express itself with fears, insecurity, and worries, or in the other side, it can be compassionate, grounded, strong, and safe. It’s the one that allows us to understand where we are coming from and defines the purpose in our lives.

Since little, we have been gaining energy, collecting thoughts and ideas from the society, our culture, and family. Sometimes unable to understand everything. But today, it’s our decision what to keep and what to release. So, I invite you to remember where your own roots are and not just use what others think or believe. It’s what you take from those believes for you to grasp and understand to make them real. Remind yourself where and why you are standing in this life.

These days, when we’re always in a rush, when everything moves so fast, and many changes come to our lives, it's so easy to forget our own nature and roots. It’s until this moment that anxiety and stress are more powerful, and we can’t understand in which direction we should go. So, we need to get back to our roots and get balanced.

We are in need of finding solid ground from our busy lives. One simple exercise for this, is connecting with your feet right now, right here, and feel that powerful energy (in yoga called prana) from Mother Earth towards you and connect that warmth that moves and strengthens your body and your own true self. Also, you can walk barefoot in the ground and do hiking. It’s the connections with the earth that allows our body to release, flow, get stronger, and flexible. Once you find that connection, it will be easy to understand your purpose, that lost path, and now came back. From there, like I always mention, it’s your decision to keep walking your path and realize that our paths can be flexible and grow another branch in our life to find happiness, health, and wisdom.

Overtime those roots will continue to find more ways to grow, get stronger, flexible and to move in different directions towards the life you want to live.

The strong light in me, recognizes the strong light in you,
