An Opportunity to Let Go

This a very important season to release. We’re ending a year to receive a new one and we’re also finishing a decade. Everything is guiding us to find closure. We just saw a past full moon marking the closure for a new beginning. It showed us that the dualities exists and are needed. And also letting us know that the dark is as needed as is the light for it to shine.

With all this said, it’s also important to start putting all together and revise what we are ready to let go. This time of the year invites us to end old patterns, leave toxic activities or people to transition into a new phase. We can start from the easy and evident like letting go that old shirt that has a hole or that is not comfortable anymore. Or we can go further by releasing that person that has nothing else to contribute to our growth.

Personally to put this into action, I had been writing a list of all that I'm ready to release. I invite you to do it; it’s so powerful and easy.

Find a place and moment of your day without distractions. Close your eyes and start meditating about your last year and/or your last decade. What have you done? Where have you been? Who has been part of it? And so on. Review back in the year or decade as far as you can remember; without forcing.

When ready to open your eyes, start writing your release letter; writing down all that you are ready to see go. Write each sentence starting with “I release....” It can be as long as you need to release. It’s important to explore every side from our past, from mental, physical, emotional, to spiritual... making sure you go deep (as far as you need to).

It’s important for you to know that this exploration might expose some deep feelings that might show you that they still need more work. So, stop to revise if you’re honestly ready to see them go or if you can still work more on them. We want to make sure that we’re releasing to end this letter feeling happy and fulfilling. And also, see that there is nothing unfinished.

You can read the letter at the same time you are observing your emotions of relieve. So then, you can burn it, seeing how the past can be dissolved into ashes and smoke; leaving space for new things to grow.

The light in me, recognizes the light in you,
